The start of another school year is on the books. I keep having to remind myself the grades that the kids are in! Fiona is a junior and Ethan a sophomore...just sounds too old. The first day of school was also my birthday, which was a bit of a bummer...but Hallie and her family stopped by and completely surprised me with flowers and hugs!
Along with school, both kids are also (against their will) running cross country. Considering it wasn't something they volunteered for, they are both doing well and improving. (Scott and I require them to play a sport, because we are horrible parents).
The end of the summer was amazing. We managed to squeeze in one more beach day and the waves were epic (due to an off shore tropical storm) Scott brought his wetsuit and he hopped on the surfboard to see if he still had some moves. Turns out, surfing is not like riding a bike... Ethan and I boogie boarded! Insane waves. I only felt safe in the water knowing that Scott was keeping a watchful eye on both of us.
These past few weeks have felt like fall. Seems as soon as Labor Day was over the weather went cold. That's fine. We took the kids apple picking and pumpkin selecting on a cool crisp day. The Cumberland Fair was a good take too! Scott and I petted tons of farm animals, got a tutorial on hooking rugs and caught a few minutes of the rodeo. The kids went their separate way with their friends...towards the deadly rides and equally deadly food vendors.
My birthday, Scotts birthday and Fionas birthday were all celebrated. My parents came up the end of August in Dads red plane to take me from Portland Jetport to Brunswick airport where there is a lovely restaurant practically on the runway! Then we flew around the coast so I could see Maine from above.
Gammy and Gampy hosted the big party for all three of us. Meagan and Ellie joined (along with Olive and Gary). Sandra would have if it weren't for a flat tire on the way:( And we had such luck! We have been hunting for a bureau for Fiona for a while now. And would you believe that there was a yard sale at the base of my parents driveway with a fella selling his grandmothers farmhouse furniture?! We scored a gorgeous piece.
The next installment should include pictures from the kids first ever high school dance...or first dance ever in their lives!! Yikes!
