They Went Down Swinging!

Wow!  Ethan had an amazing baseball season!  We have all been swept up in the games.  After the regular season ended, he was selected for the ALLSTAR team and played short-stop (and occasional relief pitcher) for the city of Portland.  The boys were amazing!  They remained undefeated through- out the tournament until they met up with Cumberland...  They played with all their hearts, and the season came to an end this past Monday night.  One game shy of becoming regional champions.
Although well into summer, it feels like we may now go through our days with out the need to plan.  The allstar season was intense.  Two hour practices everyday except for game days.
Finally we are feeling warm, humid temperatures.  Swimming in the rivers and the ocean that only a few months ago had ice on them!  There have been beach going adventures, hikes in the woods, croquet at sunset, picnics, tons of kids running thru the house (I usually make lunch for 6 kids at least three days a week...depending on who wanders in with my two).  I had the well overdue experience of rushing one of the kids to the E.R.  Ethan was running backwards during a water-balloon fight and his head collided with the metal corner of a sign.  Boy do heads bleed...A LOT!!!!!!!  He ended up with two staples in his cranium.
My dear Fiona has managed to stay in one piece.  She enjoyed a week of "watercolor and nature drawing" camp.  She churned out some amazing pieces for her portfolio.  We also hosted Ellie for a week.  She just blends right into the family, and runs around the neighborhood with Fiona and Ethan.  They have their gang, and they manage to duck into each others houses at meal times and get fed by parents.  Ellie's been here enough that Fiona and Ethan's friends know her and consider her one of their own.
Looking ahead we have some camping trips planned, "Bounce House Day" and a big SeaDogs game!

Awesome hike along the river with Yeva, Zabel and Scott P.

Proud Papa's

Kids were catching alewife by hand!

I took this while riding my bike around Casco Bay.

Beach day with friends.

I try to feed the kids OUTSIDE.  Makes less mess...and noise.

Regular season was for Waltz Plumbing.

I LOVE the ALLSTAR uniforms!

Playing of the National Anthem.

Runner's up metal around their necks.

The bracket indicates just how well they did.

BIG WIN!!

Great night with friends.

Croquet on the Western Prom. at sunset.

It got pretty competitive.  There was trash talking.

Scott P. packed homemade strawberry ice cream....

Trying to catch frogs on the fourth of July.

Amazing rope swing near a covered bridge.  I even took a few leaps!

Can you see Ethan?  Just before he hit the water.

On our way to the farmers market.

Sparklers...Why not?

Look at all those spider legs!

So nice having a third child around to help with heavy lifting.

Ethan, Yeva, Zabel and Ellie playing "Sorry" while Fiona was at camp.

Meagan was able to stay the night when picking Ellie up.  We had a perfect beach day.

The girls had fun with chalk.

EWWWWW!! OUCH!

Ethan is on the other side of the "girl wall" recounting his ER visit.  They're captivated.

Climbing yesterday.  He seems fine...right?
