A visit from Aunt Ann and Uncle John Kenney

From a sad goodbye to a heart felt "Hello!"  Scott's aunt and uncle arrived for an early dinner Tuesday.  Ann and John made a detour on their return trip home to Vermont from Ann's librarian conference in Tampa, Florida.  We have been so happy visiting with them.  Such fun and interesting conversations, and they always manage to impart some of their wisdom on the kids.  Yesterday we headed to "The Menil Collection" to see one of the most comprehensive collections of icon art (a topic which Ann is particularly interested in).  While there, we discovered that this is now one of our very favorite museums!  So many wonderfully displayed collections, spanning thousands of years.  From ancient art to works from the most famous artists of the contemporary movement! I was so excited to see my first actual Frida Kahlo painting!!!!!!!  We ended our museum day with a delicious dinner at "Jasper's" in the marketplace.  What a beautiful evening.  Tonight Ann and John join us again for an early dinner and then they head home tomorrow.  What will we do?  No guests coming in the foreseeable future?  This has not been the case since we moved.....
Just outside one of the museums seven buildings.

A lovely walk to the "Rothko Chapel".

"Men, men, men, men..."

A maze mowed right into the grass.

Ann totally encouraged the children!

Ahhh, family.  So lucky....

Another Goodbye. WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

We managed to continue packing on the fun for the last few days.  Cathy and Cate joined us for a riding lesson.  We stopped at Sunshine Farms on the way home for some farm fresh eggs, produce and some of the best homemade soaps and scrubs.  Then it was on to "The Treehouse Cafe" for Cathy to get her pulled pork sandwich she has been dreaming of!  Mmmmm....  The following day Cathy and I left the kids with Scott and we headed out for some serious shopping.  SUCH FUN!  Any reason to go to Hobby Lobby!  We have had nothing but sunny days, and perfect pool weather.  Even a few nights swimming until late into the night were had!  Should be tricky getting all the kids back on a normal schedule.  Cathy and Cate will be strongly missed.  This has been an amazing 10 days.

Cathy and Cate are here, and have decided never to leave!

We have had Cathy and Cate here since last Saturday.  God how we missed them!  The kids have been so busy with each other.  So many fun and imaginative games being played, hours in the pool, giggles into the night...  Cathy really wanted to see some of the sights while here, so we have been to the Space Center and the zoo so far.  Tonight we are going to hit the Museum of Art to take advantage of free Thursdays, and their late closing time of 9 pm.  Still on the "To Do" list is eat some good old Texas BBQ, go cowboy boot shopping, and take them to the Riverway.

So stressful...

Cate's "Stink eye" to the pitcher!

At the zoo we got unlimited carousel rides.
