What? When? Where? Why??????

Let me start from most recent and work my way back...  Last night Ethan's Senior Little League (ages 14-17) won a double elimination round in playoffs and will play the championship game this evening at 5.  Here's hoping they clinch it.  Ethan pitched the first game of the two game series right up into the 6th inning.  His efforts ensured a second game that night.  This will end his summer ball.  He was on two teams..."Wood Bat League" (which was invite only) and LL.  Both teams were strong.  He pitched for both teams and played short and second base.

Fiona has been enjoying meeting up with her friends in Portland and running the city.  She and Ethan are both participating in Cross Country for Falmouth High this fall, and optional practices have been underway all summer.  The kids have attended when possible and have been able to get to know their coaches.  Fiona has also been working for a local artist and making her own hours as she cranks out pieces from the comfort of her own home.

We just returned from a week away in Jackson, NH with my parents and sisters family.  It was so lovely.  We hit Mount Cranmore and all the rides they had to offer, and even took a horse back ride up Black Mountain.  We explored waterfalls and swimming holes and created tons of wonderful memories.  It truly was one of the best Christmas presents ever from my parents.

The week before this trip I took the kids for a two night stay in Mount Desert, ME where we attended a family reunion at my Aunt Alice's.  It was amazing.  I saw cousins I had not seen in decades.  We look older..but recognizable!  Some great photos were taken, and valuable hugs were given.  The best part was that a huge chunk of my family all stayed in the same motel for the stay.

The week prior to that...I took the kids to NH to tour a sculpture garden with my mom, sister and niece.  Mom and dad had been there previously and fallen in love.  It truly did live up to the hype.

The week prior to that...Scott and I camped in the White Mountains.  The Sunday morning of our weekend away he ran a race UP Mount Washington.  Yup.  UP.

The week prior to that...Lil, Paul, Olive and Nell stayed with us for a long weekend.  What a pleasure to have little people around.  Especially well behaved little people.  I can't wait to stay with them in Flagstaff, AZ.

Let's see....Oh yeah!  WE'RE MOVING!  AGAIN!  This is not a prank.  I am exhausted writing about it, let alone actually doing it.  Our landlord is divorcing and needs to move back into this house.  He was supper accommodating and gave us 6 months.  Not helpful when I just enrolled the kids in the towns high school....  BUT disaster was averted.  I was able to land a three bedroom, single family rental in town.  NO SMALL FEAT.  We were one of 70 applicants in an 18 hour window.  Let's just say I worked as hard as I could to make this work and it did.  Scott is, as we speak, purchasing a stupid amount of boxes at UHAUL.  We start the packing now.  Like right now.  We get the keys to the new place August first.

Batting practice with mom.

Last of the homeschool projects with mom.  Rocket launch.

Kids got McDonald's as reward for getting vaccinated.

We met Sandra at our favorite meeting spot in Ogunquit, ME for lunch.

After ball game ice cream.

Lil's adorable kids outside the Town Landing.

Ethan was on death's door after his second shot.  Seriously.  I thought I killed him.

Our perfect camping spot.

We hiked along the "Wild River".  No one else around.

Except some moose!!!

Bottom of the mountain before the race.  Beautiful.

Easter, Mother's Day and Baseball is Back!!!!!!

Whoa.  What happened?????  Time warp.  So much has been going on behind the scenes that the last thing I was thinking about was updating the blog.   But here I am.  I have a spare hour.  Easter was ideal.  The weather was just right, and we were all healthy.  The traditional chaotic hunt took place in my parents front yard.  Kids were just that much bigger.

After much hemming and hawing Ethan's baseball season got underway.  He is on two teams.  The Falmouth middle school team, and the Little League Seniors team.  Both coaches have sons on the others team, so they never overlap practices.  Very convenient.  They have worked hard to get games together with other towns.  It will be a short season for middle school (another side effect of Covid).  Many towns are still not competing with other towns.  Falmouth is having to play many repeats with the few towns that are willing to travel.  We'll take it!

Both kids are officially registered at Falmouth High School for the fall.  We decided to pull Fiona from her charter due to the fact that they NEVER got the kids into the building, not ONE in person learning day...and they are not able to guarantee that they will by the fall.  These kids NEED to actually GO to school next year.  I NEED them to both GO.  It's time.

Mother's day was lovely.  Nice weather, sweet kids and husband, other people cleaning and doing laundry, other people cooking meals.  Just great.  Ethan had his first game that afternoon.  Of course that is when the temperature dropped about 20 degrees.  It was windy and freezing...but STILL worth it.  I had not watched him play in a game for nearly 2 years.

We are now beginning to look ahead to the summer.  Camping, family parties, Gammy/Gampy Camp...relaxing!  I can't wait.

Found this little note from Fiona.  She wrote it when she was 8.  Seems like it could have been written yesterday...

Sweet Easter babies.

On your mark!  Get set!

GOOOO!  The hunt is on!

Little shoving between Ellie and Ethan.

Relaxing on the hill.

Cathy and Cate stayed for a long weekend last month.  What a treat.

Cathy got Ethan the PERFECT puzzle.

Spring!

Lunch break will look a lot different next year :(

Fiona sculpted these adorable mushroom earring for me for Mother's day.  She packaged them so cleverly.

That's Ethan on the mound!
