Fall in all its glory!

Well, it was back to the apple orchard one more time with Cathy and Cate!  They spent a night with us and we had to squeeze in as much fall festivities as we could in 24 hours!  Apple picking, pumpkin picking (well...selecting), rice crispy treats shaped like ghosts, apple bread, foliage walk in the cemetery...we did it all.  I also helped get the kids in the Halloween mood by setting up a bit of an art lesson at my dining table.  A white gourd for each friend, and their imaginations were their only limitation.  And then just like that!  Halloween was upon us.  What a blur October was!  Fiona decided she wanted to stay home and bake a chocolatey treat while her brother and friends headed out to trick-or-treat.  When all the kids came home they were gracious enough to share their candy with Fiona.  Still no snow, but I have a feeling that by the next time I write it will be a different story.  We did have some VERY windy wet weather a few weeks ago.  Many were without power, and the public schools had to dip into their "snow-day" reserve... BUT not us homeschoolers!!!!!!!  I even took on Yeva as a guest student for a day so her parents could go to work.
Fiona and Ethan have both qualified for Regionals in bouldering this season.  Luckily they will be held in Newburyport...so we can stay with my parents.  It has been such an exciting climbing season now that they compete!  Both kids are pretty darn good!

Let the decorating begin! (Yes, that's my laundry in the background...)

Birthday Bonanza!

The month of September is jam packed with birthday celebrations!!!  Three in our house...and the numbers go up as you move to extended family!  Fiona, Scott and I enjoyed our individual parties here at home, and one big bash at Gammy and Gampy's.  Then a delicious brunch gathering at Scott's aunt and uncle's home for the SIX Jason birthdays in September!
We have also welcomed fall with a warm day in the orchard gathering macintosh and cortlands.  School...well, that's another "season" to be welcomed.  It is always rough coming off of fun filled summer adventures, and diving back into our studies.  I would be lying if I said we just hop back into the routine.  Have you ever tried waking a 12 and 14 year old up early and motivating them to start their math work?   BUT things like art class with their favorite teacher Ann, and returning to regular practice schedule with their climbing team make things exciting.
This is what 43 looks like.

This is what 14 looks like.

I made my first batch of homemade ice cream!  (dairy free and sweetened only with maple syrup!)  It was actually scrumptious!

Fiona's kid party.

I got Fiona a toy for Theo.  He loves his mommy's birthday!

Fiona did so well at this venue!

Just an amazing door I noticed on a walk in the city...

Slow, hot afternoon passing the BB gun around.

We were seeing who could shoot the balloons in the distance first.

Just one shot per turn.

Pretty darn fun!!!
